Veracruz Brotherhood
It is a Christian association that gathers the faithful of Larraga around the devotion to Christ. According to the book ‘Cosas de Larraga’ by Santiago Moreno García, the Veracruz Brotherhood of Larraga dates back to the 16th century and is one of the oldest in Navarra.
Currently, it consists of a board of 10 people responsible for caring for the floats: repairing them when necessary, as well as assembling, disassembling, and organizing the procession.
It is funded by voluntary donations through three boxes that circulate in the church and establishments of Larraga in the days leading up to Holy Week. The procession costs about 1,000 euros annually, not including damages and repairs.
In 2024, approximately 6,000 euros will be invested in restoring all the holy floats.
The term “pasos” comes from the Latin “passus,” which means suffering. The floats depict the Passion of Christ in the last days of His life in a more graphic way than the Stations of the Cross, which describe the same events.
